Wonderful Day for a Club Contest

01NO09

Set up and ready to go.
Gerry with his new foamie. He is scratch building them with airfoils and the flying weight is in the 20 Oz. range. Good for light air days of fun flying.
Steve won today and Greg was the CD. He called a good contest and the air was anything but a gimmie but with a little work and little luck, it became a landing contest as usual.

 FRIENDS!

The park cut the field for us and it is great looking now and the spring should be good also. Thank you Oakland County Parks.
Flying was relaxed and spotting was spotty because the thermals were small and far between. It really helped to have a fast ship to cover a lot of area in your search for lift.

For November, this was a just like a spring day!

08NO09

Dave Corven spent a lot of time today getting the spoiler-elevator setup right on his AVA.
Dan Jackman has not been out much this year so it was good to see him in action again. Dave Fairchild lauching with Dennis running the retriever.

 LUNCH!

Dennis Kozak packing up to leave for the day.
It was a great day for November and we all had a good time sport flying. None has more fun than Roger and he is getting good with his Radian and I have to say is the most improved flyer this year.
My foamie sat there all day waiting for a turn, but it never came because the winds were too high. I felt bad for it but it lived to fly another day.

November Club Meeting

Belger and Roger going over a "MILES" kit from Kennedy Composites. If no one buys it from me, I may have to build my first woodie in many years.
The "Duke" (Bob Dukert) is now an ORF and proud of it. He has not  been around a lot lately but that is going to change now that time is no object.
Normal club meeting, a lot of whip making material being thrown around.
Bill Barstow going over the Christmas Party plans. Bill is the ring leader for this event.
Now that school is on, we do not see Ned at the field like we did all summer but he still makes the meetings.
Bruce with his new DLG, he does such a nice job of building. All of his stuff looks perfect.
Barney and Mike checking out the S&N Hobbies "Flasher 450" a low cost way to get into helis. It is a rip-off of the Trex 450 and it works quite well for me as a learning tool. So far after about 10 flights, no problems.
Looks like Roger had a hard day at work today and has that "one-more-meeting is enough to put me over the edge" look.

 January Makeup Contest

Yea, I know it is a makeup Sailplane contest but it was really overcast and foggy so we could not get the sailplanes up as early as we wanted so I decided to try out my old Twin-Jet on steroids. It now has two outrunner Komodo's and hits 300 watts input. This along with a 10 oz. reduction in weight makes it go "real good jr.".
The Lineup-Still early  No launches yet but it is getting lighter
Greg Nilsen getting ready for an official flight. and Gerry Marcicki ready to hook up.
Dave getting put-up after a day of play. The "boys" watching one of the rounds

  Indoor flying is here

25NO09

Gerry getting ready to fly and TTT (Tree Top Tom) showing off his new SE5a. A sweet looking plane in the air.
You see a lot of different kinds of planes flying indoors. The advent of foam and good batteries has revolutionalized the sport. The little guy on the right is an all balsa build up to keep the fomies in line. It is really cute and looks super in the air.
Dale Maddison is an old friend and fellow GM retiree so I thought I would put him in the page because I felt like it. Dale is a power flyer in the summer. On the right John Hoover is getting ready for a little 3D.
George, our host, and Jim discussing business on the left shot. Bill's tool box is just too neat, Hutch needs to give him lessons on messyness.
