November 21, 2004 "FUN" Flying Day
WOW,That's
all I can say about the day's flying. There were around twelve
Hi-Fliers, and anything with wings was going up, way up. This was one of
the best days flying in November that I can remember. If you could put
wings on a garbage can it would go up.
We decided not to have a contest for the fear of ruining the day with
unnecessary contest stress, so we just did our thing.
At one point I was running the winch, turned around, and everybody had
their heads looking up at planes that were at human sight limits.
There were two highlights during the afternoon's' flights. The first
when Jack launched his 'TEMPEST', It did a complete loop as it came off
the line and we all watched a thirteen hundred dollar sailplane out of
control complying to the laws of gravity. Someone yelled," put some flap
into it" and along with all the up elevator Jack could muster it landed
safely. Some very quiet and exciting moments all dependent on who had
the stick in their hand. The second highlight was, during a few brief
moments Dave Corven was flying the wrong plane, while all planes were
dots in the blue sky Dave was wondering why the plane he was looking at
was not responding to his commands, well, his was the next plane over.
We all had a great day and we are sorry for those of you that wished you
could be there.
We are planning on flying this Friday with the idea of doing some
contest make-ups, some quick and easy stuff, so bring your planes and
things and hope for a good day.
Keep the sun to your back and the wind to your face!
SEE YA, Ken Rogus
PS. Attached
are some photos of the day.
