FEB 2006 CLUB CONTEST
It was a good day to be outside and
enjoy the last of the good weather for a while. We enjoyed mostly sunny skies
with temperatures in the mid 50's. Winds were out of the SW 5-15 mph. The available lift was difficult with
thermals that were tight and moving quickly.
By popular
demand (Jack), I called a 4-round, 26-minute Q-max contest, with an 8-minute
max per round and a severe 3-point per second penalty for anything over the
8-minute round or 26-minute Q-max. Landings were scored with a 100 point
graduated tape.
We had 8 pilots and the results are:
1) Gerry ("The Ger") Marcicki 1686 (Mantis)
2) Dave ("I'm still obnoxious") Corven 1517 (Supra)
3) Jack ("I love retirement") Iafret 1333 (Graphite)
4) Jimmy ("The Kid") Marcicki 1203 (Edge)
5) Wilbert ("I beat Steve") Hutchings 1174 (Edge)
6) Steve ("I couldn't beat Hutch") Martinez 1174 (Eclipse V)
7) John ("I need a bigger ship") Ferguson 995 (2-meter ?)
8) Dennis ("We need a throw-away round") Kozak 745 (Lil Bird 2m)
Some observations:
Today, it was all about "The Ger", a quiet unassuming man from Livonia, MI. who was in control from start to finish! The adjectives "AMAZING", "AWESOME" and "DOMINATING" were heard leaving the lips of his competitors and the crowd in attendance! He put together a solid performance today by scoring the highest flights with landings in 2 of the 4 rounds. Way to go Gerry!
Good to see Dave Corven recovering nicely from his ills and getting stronger.
Good to see Jack flying a straight wing ship again.
As a group we hit 21 out of 32 possible landings, or about 66% (definitely room for improvement!).
What can you say about Hutch?
Attendance
was a little low, it would be great to see more guys building winch launch
ships and coming out to fly contests with us.
