MAY 6, 2006 GDSHS CLUB CONTEST
                 CD - Steve Martinez
We had a comfortable sunny day with light winds of  5 - 10 mph. The lift was challenging early, but did become more predictable
as the afternoon progressed.   Still, if you didn't pay attention to the cycles you got burned!   We had 10 fliers and a few
spectators (Roger,Sergi & Jim).   Although I didn't realize it, I was the designated CD for this contest.  Since I hadn't put much thought
into it, I decide to have a straight forward 'open window' four round contest with tasks of  6, 8, 10, 10, minutes respectively
with a 100 point graduated landing tape.  Some interesting stats from the day,  no flier maxed all four rounds.
Of the 40 landings possible, collectively we only hit  17 for a 42.5 percent success rate and only one pilot hit all 4 landings,
( we know where the other 9 need to work! )   The average score on landings was 27 points.   So, as a group not only
did we miss a lot of landings but our scores were low, PRACTICE!   PRACTICE!   PRACTICE!!!
All that said, we still had a lot of fun with the usual jokes and cajoling!   Several guys were setting up new ships for the season,
John Ferguson and Dennis Kozak had some new two meters they working on.  Corven(ski) had his new 'Supra' flying quite nicely
(WAY to nice a ship for Dave, I think he should let Hutch fly it!)   Jerry Marcicki was flying his' AVA' and it looked nice in the air!
I'm still working on the new 'DUCK' , but it's going to be a winner!    We were missing a couple of our regulars, Ken Rogus -still up north,
Hutch - well, who knows what Hutch does?, and Mike Wade who took a nap all afternoon in his van because he forgot his wing rod!
As you can see from this months results Jimmy is "the man in the bull's eye" and is setting the bar high so far this season.
