May 07 Contest Report

CD: Steve Martinez

We finally had a good day for a contest. Mostly sunny with temps in the 60's and variable winds from the SE at 5-15mph.

The turnout was decent with 10 flyers (wish there were more). Our pre-contest trim flights showed promise of strong abundant lift but that wasn't always the case.

Although the lift was strong at times, you really needed to pay attention and read the cycles or you were down in a hurry.

I called a relaxing four round, 4,6,8 & 10 minute duration (call it when you land) contest.

We set out two 100-point landing tapes.

I believe this is only the second or third club contest we've had this season and all of us were still knocking off the winter cobwebs as evident by some of these stats.

· Out of 40 possible lands we hit 18 as a group (45%)

· Only 2 flyers had landing points in all four rounds

· One flyer hit 3/4 landings

· Three flyers hit 2/4 landings

· Two flyers hit 1/4 landings

· One flyer hit 0/4 landings

· Highest single landing points in a round, (92) - Jack

· Lowest single landing points in a round besides zero, (1) - Jack

Obviously we need some work here because this did account for quite a spread in the scores!

But we still had fun!

Lastly, this month "Mr. Irrelevant" award goes to Jack for tying Hutch for 6th place.

Way to go Jack!
