Jack Iafret flying the "Toy's R' Us" Picco Z helicopter
to start the club meeting. These things are the most fun a $30 bill can
bring. It also helps to keep Ken Rogus on his toes who has been heard to
say there will never be a heli flown at our field :-).
More of the same (BTW, Ken took the photos so maybe he
is softening up a little).
Not sure what Roger is laughing about but Dave is sure
in casual mode.
Hutch praying that Ken will get this meeting over with
quickly.
What can I say that this photo does not say by itself.
Three ORF's and a wantabe ORF.
Tom, Bob, Bob and Chuck
Barney Bauer and his old timer Quaker Flash. This plane
is great looking after 20 years of flying but now with an upgraded
brushless on LiPo's. It really a sweet flyer as it putters around the
field at shoulder height at 1/4 throttle.
Dave Corven is designing and building a twin ducted fan
"looks like a jet fighter" and wanted to know what the thrust was on his
fan units. He built this test rig to find out and each fan pulls about
20 Oz.
If you don't hold the base, the fan will slide it right off of
the table top. Scary noises come from that little beast.
Dave getting ready to push the button.
We all need to thank Hutch for putting this
dinner together and being the MC as well as coming up with the yearly
"special awards" for the four guys below.
We really need to give Hutch an award also for all of his efforts
keeping our field active and making sure Oakland County Parks are happy
with us being there.
The first award went to Alex Straub who has been here
from Germany for the last couple of years. He is heading back home and
we will miss this true gentleman and fabulous builder.
Hutch awarded me a foot long piece of co-ax cable and a
foam chuck glider for doing the web site and pushing electric sailplanes
in the club.
Wolfgang Ludwig was awarded a motor for his next big
plane project. His award was given for his work in getting the club into
building their own motors and becoming more technical in power train
selection.
Bob Belger got a special hat and foam plane for being
one of the founding fathers of the club. Bob thought it was an award for
being alive (the button on his hat states "I ain't dead yet").
Not too
many of the originals left, the club was formed in 1971 (I think).
I apologize for the quality of some of the photos. My little point and
shoot camera does great outdoors but is at a loss on low light
conditions. Also, I felt more like partying than being a photog.
