The meeting was a lot of fun (we did a lot of hanger
flying) and some official business was actually conducted, but the
highlight was the new ship by Barney.
It is a "Crunchie" version of
Joe Wurts' "DS" Dynamic Slope Soaring ship but this one is electric
motor powered, not slope powered. It should be fast, agile and hard to
see at 1500 feet in a boomer.
Barney did his usual fantastic building job and I can't wait to see
it flying.
John Ferguson and Lee Tait (of the Romeo
Club) worked a little magic and arranged for use of a soccer dome to do
a little flying a couple a days a week from 12pm to 2pm. We surly owe
them a vote of thanks for this wonderful place to fly out of the cold
and win.
Wolf flew his UFO like foamy and it is really a nice
little ship and Wolf is getting the 3D stuff down pat.
Did not get his name but the little rubber job was
really cute.
Guess what happens when a little Cox foamy goes head to
head with a Woodie four times it's size. My beloved Corsair is no more,
but I have one on the board (with an Astro .020) and one more on the way
from Cox.
These things are just too much fun to not have one ready to
play with at any time.
Our Hero, John Ferguson doing a little 3D with his flat
foamy. John is quite good and was nice enough to allow me to fly his
ship after I destroyed mine. I guess I just have to get one soon, it is
fun.
John's plane in a hover (note the aileron deflection to
keep it straight).
Harlan Neuville
Mark Deryckere
Larry Parker
Opps never got his name
Lee Tait
Members of the Romeo club that got the dome for us to
use.
Our old buddy Tom Laclave
("Tree Top Tom") with his Helio waiting to be flown. Tom has been having
a ball with a bunch of little free flight and simple RC planes. They are
perfect planes for the dome.
Dave Corven with a newly powered ARF that
Dave has been flying for a couple of years outdoors. The upgrade to a an
outrunner and LiPo's makes the plane much nicer.
