April 2008 Club Activities

Spring is here (I think) because the Toledo Show has happened and the trees have buds and there is no snow on the ground.

The real test is outdoor flying and I have done some of that so spring must really be here. A bunch of guy's went out the 6th and had a good time while Dave and I were slaving in the Kennedy Composites booth at the show.

I took some photos at the show but not very many so the ones here are just a small sample of the things that impressed me. There were so many more that it would take days to put together a presentation so I will leave that to the pros.

The Toledo Show

This R/C tank made the rounds of the show in the mornings waking everyone up. The engine was really loud like the original.
This is the winning sailplane of the four that were entered. Tom Scully did his usual great job of finishing. It is a Ray Hayes kit of a 3M Oly.
This is the only sailplane Chet Lanzo designed many years ago and shows the state of the art 40 or 50 years ago.

This rendition took second place this year. Very nice Nostalgia looking ship.

I do not remember the name of this plane but the detail work was great, looked like a real museum piece.
I really liked the detail on this heli. The interior was really complete. Overall view
Talk about detail.
If you love nice mechanical achievements, you just have to love a turboprop that fits in your favorite scale model.
"The Electric Bear". I would really like to see this thing lift off.

At the Field

Gerry Marcicki really likes to coddle his planes and even has monogrammed covers made to keep them happy.  Check out the monogram
Dennis Kozak checking out Ken Rogus' plane while Ken does a lunch break. The normal BS session is a big part of the day's activities.
Well John Ferguson has shown us the upper limit of the EZG structure in flight. From a spec height, John did a series of loops and dives to kill off altitude and somewhere up there the rear of the plane departed.

John was able to fly the now unstable, inverted plane back to the field from fairly far down wind and over the woods. He almost hit the landing tape.

Fine job of flying John and thanks for showing what the VNE limits of the EZG are.
