2008 June Club Activities

YEA, SUMMERS HERE!!!

June Club Contest

New guy Bruce Thoms timing for Old guy, Dave Corven. This was Bruce's first time working at a contest. I think he learned a little and had fun, Dick Stratton with his scratch built Duck. Dick rebuilt the retriever you see here and it is fantastic. It runs smooth and just the right speed.
The tensioning of the line. "The Pitch"
Dave Shaw did duty all day on the winch. It was a little too windy for his nostalgia class planes, so he worked.

Thanks a lot Dave, it made all the contestants lives a little less stressful.

Well it looks like Dave is done with his flight. Landings were really tough with the wind and rotors coming off of the trees. Very low percentage of landings today if you look at the score sheets in the "Contest Results" section.
Lunch Break. The guy in shorts is Chris Corven and he cleaned house today. Chris is really a good stick and reads air better than most.

A Typical ORF Day

Electrics are great but the added "STUFF"  you need to bring along is really a drag, especially with heli's. Poor Wolf, Hutch and Milio will not let him fly in peace (or anyone else for that matter).

Club Meeting

Good to see the two "Survivors" back and doing so well. Hope to see Joe at the field soon. Dave Corven's attempt at an "I will always know what side is up" color scheme on the Striker.
Notice the free-flight type de-thermalizer on the back of Bob Belger's Dallaire. Power system is an inexpensive BIG MOTOR and should pull this puppy up just fine on a bunch of A123 cells.
New guy Bruce Thoms with his Gentle Lady. Bruce is a capable flyer already. Old time member Pat Flinn came by to say hello and ask for some help from the club to do an AMA Delta Dart program in the Pontiac School District.

Teaching kids is a great thing and very rewarding to both the student and teacher.

Does this duo remind you of the "Smith Brothers" cough drop adds? Mike Wade in "Formal Attire"- he always gets dressed for the meetings.
Think Wolf is looking for the little pilot? Guess what: If Wolf had not worn that Red Wings shirt every day of the playoffs, they would not have won the Stanley Cup.
